SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE:
I AM SO SHOCKED – FROM THE WASHINGTON FREE BEACON: Nearly 100 percent of political donations from self-identified fact checkers—including those whose employers claim journalistic neutrality—go to Democrats, a Washington Free Beacon analysis of federal campaign finance disclosures found. The Free Beacon reviewed political donations over the past four election cycles from those who identified their occupation as "fact checker." $22,580 of the $22,683 in political donations that came from self-identified fact checkers during that time—a whopping 99.5 percent—went to Democrats and liberal groups. Only three of the fact checker donations made during that period went to Republicans. Top recipients include socialist Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, who during the seven-year period received ten times more fact checker money than every Republican combined. The findings contradict claims of neutrality from top fact-checking operations. Fact checkers for the New York Times and Reuters, for example, contributed to President Joe Biden, failed South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Jaime Harrison, and liberal Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign. Not in any way surprising. The left controls mainstream journalism, and nothing will be done about it.
COMMON SENSE – FROM COLLEGE FIX: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday signed into law legislation that prohibits biological men from competing in women’s collegiate sports.
Senate Bill 15 requires collegiate athletes play on the team that corresponds with their biological sex. “Women’s college athletic teams are being threatened. Collegiate records that women set are being threatened,” Gov. Abbott said at a bill signing ceremony for the Save Women’s Sports Act. “The legacy of women’s sports will be safeguarded for generations to come,” he said. “Women in Texas can be assured that the integrity of their sports will be protected.” If a school or team violates the new law it stipulates they are entitled to bring a civil action for injunctive relief. Texas joins Missouri and Alabama in passing similar measures in favor of women’s college sports in recent weeks. Supporters of the bill, such as Mary Elizabeth Castle, director of government relations for Texas Values, told The College Fix it is a “huge victory for Texas women college athletes.” A major victory for sanity. Young women train for years to be the best, often competing for scholarships. They shouldn't be confronted by biological men who now identify as women. Please note that the misnamed "women's movement" didn't lift a finger to help female athletes in this dispute. What a disgrace.
BUT THE MADNESS ELSEWHERE CONTINUES – FROM CAMPUS REFORM: Springfield College in Massachusetts offers pronoun guidelines that discourage students from using the words “mother,” “father,” and other “gender specific” terms. “Springfield College is committed to valuing and validating the gender identity and expression of members of the campus community,” its website states. “One way that Springfield College seeks to create gender-inclusive academic, living, and work environments is by encouraging all members of the campus community to indicate the pronouns they use for themselves, if desired, in classes, residence halls, workplaces, and other settings, and by encouraging members of the campus community to respect these pronouns,” it continues. The “gendered” nouns to avoid include: “mother/father,” “sister/brother,” “mankind,” “man-made,” “boyfriend/girlfriend,” “husband/wife,” “son/daughter,” “freshman,” and “congressman.” As such, Springfield instead encourages the corresponding “gender-inclusive” nouns: “parent,” “sibling,” “people/human beings/humanity,” “machine-made/synthetic/artificial,” “partner,” “spouse/significant other,” “child/kid,” “first-year student,” and “legislator/congressional representative.” Happy Father's Day.
